Science in Sports (EXAMPLE)

I chose the sport of Polo. An aspect of science that improves the proper execution of the game is the nutrition of your horse. Polo is played much like croquet on horseback. The North American Polo League is pretty much an equivalent to the NFL. The scientific principle that must be executed is proper understanding and nutrition of horses. If a horse is not exercised then it will not be able to perform on the field, just like humans train for a soccer game. Also one can improve or at least practice good training techniques by keeping the horse on a healthy diet. Just like athletes eat certain foods while training, these horses need certain foods as well. Corn is a high calorie food for horses however most polo ponies, as they are affectionately called, have a diet consisting of oat and barley hay, alfalfa hay, and sweet feed with oil. Many organizations consider supplements due to training schedules and travel.
